CAREER NURSE ASSISTANTS'
TWENTY YEAR CLUB
The Twenty Year Club is an honorary organization for the experienced
nurse assistant providing direct care to people in nursing homes, in-home
care, hospice, attendant care or other long-term care services.
THE PURPOSES OF THE TWENTY YEAR CLUB ARE:

To identify and validate nurse assistants who provide consistency and predictability
to the people in their care.

To identify training needs and other issues specific to the experienced
nurse assistant.
-
To provide a stimulus for community education about the role, responsibility
and value of the experienced nurse assistant in long-term care services.
ELIGIBILITY
Nurse assistants, resident care assistants, attendants, home care aides
or other direct care workers in long-term care who have completed 20 or
more years of service are invited to become members of the Twenty Year
Club. Service years do not need to be consecutive and can be from several
different long-term care facilities or settings. .
BENEFITS
Eligible nurse assistants receive a certificate of membership and names
of members are displayed at the National Citizens' Coalition for Nursing
Home Reforms' Annual Conference in Alexandria, VA in October, 1998. Facilities
are encouraged to request media coverage for their honored workers.
ANNUAL AWARDS
An annual award for Most Years of Service is presented in November.
Previous recipients of the award are honored at this event, but are not
eligible to compete a second time.
HOW TO APPLY
The attached entry form may be used, or nurse assistants can apply
by submitting the following:

request to be member of the Twenty Year Club

number of years service in long-term care
DEADLINES
To be included in the national display and directory and considered
for the Most Service Years Award, please send applications by August
10, 1998. Additional information and verification of service may be requested
from applicants.
COST
There is no cost to eligible nurse assistants.

A Directory of Twenty Year Club Members is available to participating
facilities at minimal cost.

1995 - 223 NAs, 65 facilities, 23 states - 4,600 years of service
1996 - 700+ NAs, 141 facilities, 34 states - 15,000+ years of service
1997 - 920 NAs, 207 facilities, 36 states - 21,945 years of service
