National Nursing Assistants Week June 10-17, 2004 - �Nursing Assistants: Specialists in the Art of Caring ��

Nursing Assistants Week �04 focuses on ways nursing assistants make a difference in the lives of the people in their care. It also showcases innovative approaches NAs create to foster comfort, alleviate stress, encourage friendships, and provide for the wellbeing for our elder or disabled citizens.��

Each day of National Nursing Assistants Week focuses on a different aspect of the �Specialist� theme and provides ideas, discussion guides and other resources that can be used for NAW and throughout the year for skill development and decision making in the clinical setting, and for professional advancement.

National Career Nursing Assistants Day � June 10, 2004

The first day of NAW is Career Nursing Assistants Day is �set aside each year to recognize longevity of service, special contributions to care practices and accomplishments of the nursing assistants who have made caring their life career including members of the National Twenty Year Club.�

HERE ARE A FEW IDEAS FOR NATIONAL NURSING ASSISTANTS WEEK - JUNE 10-17, 2004

o���������� Ask your local newspaper to write a story about your NA who has the most service years.

o���������� Become a member of the NNCNA, your professional organization for NAs for more than 27 years.

o���������� Plan a group project to submit to the Savvy Authors Program

o���������� Host an award program or workshop for NAs in your area.

o���������� Invite your local congressman or mayor to discuss NA related issues with a group of NAs

o���������� Work with the resident�s council to develop a project for families and NAs.

o���������� Enroll your NAs in the National NAs on Line Project� send email to [email protected] for info. �

o���������� Join the Trainers Connection, National Twenty Year Club for NAs or the Male NAs Taskforce Listserv or message board � send email to [email protected] for info

o���������� Convene a meeting for your 20 Year Club members, review their Task List and plan projects for these important workers.

o���������� Send photos of your NA Week events for posting on the NNCNA Web site
