Hi there!
I have just a couple of questions. In the LTCF that I work at, our staffing ratios are way out of wack, or so I feel. Our census was 73 last I knew. (we are not an extremely large facility) We have three hallways. Hallway number one has approximately 34 residents on it. 1st shift is allowed 3 NA's on this hall. 2nd shift and 3rd shift are only permitted 2 NA's. Our next biggest hall has 27 residents to 2 NA's on 1st and 2nd shift with only 1 on 3rd shift. Hallway #3 has 20 residents to 2 NA's 1st and 2nd shift and 1 NA 3rd shift. I am wondering who sets our staff-resident ratio based on the census. Some halls (halls #1 and 2)have up to 18 or 19 residents per NA. Hall #3 has 10 residents per NA. Does this seem out of wack to anyone but me? I always thought there was a law stating how many residents per NA's were allowed. The state has only complained once about staffing being short and the problem was fixed momentarily, but is out of wack again.

Hope this didn't confuse anyone, and any input is appreciated.
