Christy, you stated that the letter that was sent to you said that you had met the REQUIREMENTS that you needed to pass the class at the tech school. At anytime after that did you take a state test? If not, i can understand why you are not on the state registery. After your class, you have 120 days to pass a 2 -part state exam that will certify you to work in a nursing home. Although you may have passed the class, you must pass the required test. When you pass this test, you will recieve a letter stating that you passed, what your grade in the written was and if you passed the needed skills tests. You will also recieve a certificate (and a smaller one for your wallet) stating you are certified to work as a CNA.
Only after you pass the required test will you be eligable to re-up your cert every 2 years.
You may need to contact that tech school and find out when they will be giving the test, but I am afraid that it has been too long and you may have to take the class again. Hopefully, you did not have to pay to take the class, as it was given in a tech school. Check around at some of your nursing homes and see who offers the class there. The ones given in nursing homes usually last 2 weeks, so may not have to wait long.
Good luck and keep us posted!!!!!
