Knowledge is power. Want to know how your facility's survey performance, size, staffing and ownership compares to others, city, county or nationwide? You can and it's free. Here's how: go to the HCFA website called "Nursing Home Compare." Here's how to get there. www.medicare.gov/NHCompare/home.asp. Here's how to use the site to get info on specific nursing homes: scroll down, highlight your state and click on "next step" button at the right. Select county or city (entering the name of the facility may not work). Scroll down and click on "next step." Click on the facilities you want or, better yet, click on "select all." Click on "continue." Select which information you want, for example, "About nursing home inspection results." Click on submit.
