Hi Shari,
The "Nursing Home Compare" Website is provided by HCFA particularly to serve consumers by giving them access to nursing home survey reports based on the so-called "annual" survey. By law, nursing homes must be surveyed by state survey agencies between every nine months and not less than every fifteen months. Quarterly survey frequency is not required, however, facilities may be surveyed more frequently if there are compliance problems and states are also required to make "revisit" surveys to verify that the facility's plan of correction is in operation and that the "allegation of compliance" filed by the facility with the state is correct. These are the types of surveys that do not show up on the website. Also, complaint surveys do not show up there, either. Finally, sanctions against the facility for non-compliance don't show up there, either. So, I agree that the website needs to be more complete to tell the whole story, but it is still being developed and is much better than it was in 1998. Your facility is required by law to have the results of the most recent survey available for public inspection.

: lagging update is always needed. I can HAVE gone to see my nursing facility, and never see it updated.
: and it needs to be updated frequently.
: I've used it constantly, and in 6 months time, gone back, still see the same old stuff.
: when weknow the stuff has been cleared, fixed or whatever, so I do fel the site in itself needs alot of work. That is my opinion.
: I don't feel it is accurate. By any means.
