Several Years ago, I worked in a LARGE facility that had alot of
Agency.
This nursing home, expected Agency to do things like they knew the residents,
and the whole way the NH worked.
In general, the NH did not respect the Agency personnel at all.
Nor did the CNA's because back biting words would come flying out of their mouths,
like how stupid, how ignorant, doesn't he or she know better.
etc etc., FIRST, I had to open my big mouth to several CNA's there
By stating as loud as I could so the could get it thru their heads,
AGENCY
is there to cover and keep the hall staffed from the childish call ins we had.
The CNA's would gripe and bitch and moan about how she he i getting paid ALL THIS
But yet, wanted Agcy to do all the work.
My comment was Why are you griping about what they get paid,
NOTHING is stopping you from getting paid exactly the same. If you want more money, apply at the agency.
CNA's can be rude to the core, but you have to realize, they also, are work to the bone
by call ins, and when they get the extra help they need they assume the BIG DOLLAR worker is supposed t work harder.
That is not the case. It was a matter of choice that they pursued or whatever reasons not to check into agency and stay where they are
treated bad so in turn, they tend to treat the higher paid worker a tad bit rougher, out of a sort of
"jealousy"
I've always relished the fact when an agency person had come in to help.
Even though I would have to help explain what needed to be done I also realized that there is no way a person can walk into an LTC look at a resident and know what to do with them.
Basically, we had many Agency who didn't let the CNA's walk all over them and treat them bad, because they spoke up and told the CNA just about what I just typed.
Bearing the words,
I'm here to Help you, Not take your job away.
