This is a worth while network. I applaused your efforts. It is necessary to bring to the fore front of the policymakers' mind that the facilities can't operate without our precious nursing assistants. Their salaries should reflect the service they provide. Nursing Assistant are skilled in interpersonal and communication. Just ask many of the family whose loved ones are left in these health care facilities. Many of them will tell you how much better they feel about leaving that love one because they know that the nursing assistant will take care of them. It is the nursing assistant that develops the comradery necessary to put these families at easy. I have been in facilities that showed that there was enough staff and those where there was not enough staff. In the place where there has not been enough staff the patients looked disshelved and very distraught. On the other hand in the places where there were staffed sufficiently the atmosphere was much different in that the patients looked well kept and seem very relaxed and at peace. I will urge my students to join this network because this is much needed voice for this part of the health care team. Be encouraged. |
