Ok, so what are we doing about it? We know they are closing D.Dix. We have been getting some of their residents at our facility on my unit! Man is it getting dangerous to work their! Combative Alzheimer's residents are one thing. Violent and psychotic residents are another, especially when you mix the two! The same thing happened in the 70's with the mentaly retarded population! De-institutionalization! Nice word for dumping human beings in inapprpriate places! Most of our homless people come from this action! I have data! Lots of data and documentation! Who do I send it to? When the state has a plan of action well into implementation, do you really think we can change it? How? We have a one term governor and he knows it. So what do we do? Who else can I contact to get something done? Well, I guess it is time for the papers, radio and TV. The meetings have not gone well, the phone conversations with those in power were a waste of time. I guess it is time for expose and publish. Rich
