Hi, I am thinking of going back to my old profession "Nursing Assistant". I went through a three month training course for the government in 1973. (Long time ago, I know.) I worked for a VA hospital for 5 years, then quit. Then, in 1980 (approx) I got a job in a nursing home and was allowed to work because of the "Grandfather Clause". As I recall, they would not honor my government training. My question is, do I have to take a cna training course again to become a cna or can I just take the test? Also, does anyone know the lifting requirements of a cna? It has been a long time since I've had to do that kind of work and I am not quite as strong as I once was. Thanks in advance for any information! P.S. I live in Illinois.
