I think that PRN employees are a good idea. My facility is short staffed a lot, and they finally started the PRN thing, with one catch. Some of them only want 1 day a week. Two of the nurses work 2 days a month...they really don't help the shortage at all. So, we are still using agency. I used to work agency, I loved it, but if we have staff that are labeled "as needed" they should work "as needed". Is the PRN supposed to be for the facility or staff. Where does Part-time fit into the scheduling??
