Yes,I agree that the CNA's should be held
responsible for the rounds if they are not done.
Generally most places do not make it mandatory for
the nurse to check behind the aides. The only time
this happens where I work is when there have been
a lot of complaints. If we go to our nurse and
complain that something was left undone by the
previous shift the first thing we are asked is if
we checked our rooms and patients/residents with
the previous shift. Unless someone has been left
soiled or wet,you cannot prove that this was left
by the previous shift. Where I work we even "tag"
our linen left in the soiled linen room. This is
due to the previous shift always leaving soiled
linen in the hampers without rinsing it out. You
also have nurses that will not check behind the
aides and yet tell you that they did. They simply
are not going to let themself get in trouble so,
they lie and say they made rounds with their aides.
