These are very important questions and I hope you can start some discussion that will be helpful to you and to others. If you will send us your postal mailing address, we will send additional info to you in the mail. How to find and keep good workers is a big problem and one that is getting bigger all the time. We need people like you who are consciencious and want to move forward. The problem often is that you cannot do it in a vacuum - you need an adm and DON who support, encourage and defend you and who also help to make this a place where people will want to work. I am anxious to see the responses. If you like we can forward your post to one of our lists as well. However, I will be out of town for a week - to Philadelphia and the ASA conf and then to Portland for the National Area Agency on Aging conf. If you are in the area, stop in.

: I'm interested in hearing from CNA's and Educators in LTC facilities about how newly hired and newly trained CNA's are oriented. How long are orientation periods?
: Are CNA's oriented on off shifts? Do you use preceptor programs and if so are they successful? How do you keep a CNA in orientation when staffing goes down the tubes? I have a zillion questions, but we'll start here.
