: Is the shortage really so bad that the CNA's are doing 75% of the work in the facilities and the CNA's actually take the rap for things ..even when the work with 1/2 a crew...is it really like this everywhere?...I at one point started to blame myself..thinking I'm saying or doing something wrong...but all my coworkers tell me they can't beleive anyone could blame me..because I'm so willing to help and happy going..I even give up my breaks and help do work..and stay let..mind you I don't get paid if I give up breaks or stay late..it's all on my own time...but this is the only way residents could have their care completed...

I understand your feelings. I have felt this way myself several times this past year, but keep thinking about the patients. Sued for not answering a call light? It would have never crossed my mind, this beats it all. I am currently working in a hospital, was working in a nursing home until a few months ago. Frustrating when you see the same problems over and over, make suggestions and nothing changes. Actually I was away from nursing homes for 10 years and nothing has changed.
