You are right on target and I wish we could zerox you and pass you around to a lot of other NAs who do not get this support.
I am wondering if your NAs would be interested in being published authors. We are looking right now for NA comments in 2 areas which:
"What I do that makes me a specialist in the art of caring. "
and
"What I do to individualize care "
Perhaps some of our other readers would like to participate also. These are tips and portions of each persons essay will be included in the upcoming Tips booklets. We will also tell you how to include this on their resume and will send them a copy.
Spelling and punctutation do not count - only the great ideas - and they must be replicable by other NAs. This means another NA must be able to apply them in some way. The "specialist" deadline is July 15 and the "Individualized care" deadline is Sept 15. You can find more info on this site for Tips 6 or 'NA as published authors.'
Again, thanks for your good work and keep in touch. In particular, watch for info about the National Leadership conf for NAs - hope you can send some of your great NAs.

: As a unit coordinator of an Alzheimer's unit, I feel that it is so important to work as a TEAM. I understand that we are all very busy and many times task oriented to get the job done . The residents that we care for deserve the best possible care by all of us. We are all trained to meet the needs of the residents. What a rewarding feeling it is to pass a tray, answer a call bell, help a resident to the bathroom, hand them a tissue or drink of water. These simple tasks take little time, and we as nurses can help our very dedicated nurses aides and residents by letting them know that we care too. Everyone needs to feel appreciated and by helping them I hope they feel that they are!
