I have been a CNA for five years now and I am now currrntly under suspension and have been suspended since October 27, 2003 on an alleged verbal abuse charge. I found out that it is true that residents have more rights than the workers do and the establishment does not care because there is always someone standing in line to take your job. I don't understand why the nursing homes does not have someone to defend the CNA's against false allegations. This resident I am accused of verbal abusing has done this type thing twice. She can walk and talk and she gets mad when she don't get her way and like all she has her rights. I believe in residents rights but I do not believe that residents should take advantage of those rights. I know of a lot of abuse that goes on in a nursing home, but the establishment knows about it so why should I be the bearer of bad news. I just try to give good service and in the five years I've been doing this I have not seen one CNA that was accused of this type of abuse or any type of abuse have any form of representation. We do not get paid enough in Alabama to hire our own attorney, so where does this leave us?
