Regulations? Where are they?

I enjoy being a cna and have no plans to go to nursing school however i have alot of problems with hearing "sorry cnas cant do that" not from my nurses usually just lazy coworkers. I completed one of the free training opportunities in a nursing home in my area and then took the test (what a joke). I kind of run into littles issues on weekends when things still need to be done UA dips, blood sugars, dressing changes and for hospice residents the suppositories. I know i have been told many times only nurses can do these things but really call an already overworked nurse in to do some of these on the weekend makes no sence to me so i would like to check the regulations and see if i cant find some sort of a loop whole. Maybe just extra training or something. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
