This is not safe for you or for the residents and in most states is a violation of the law.
You must report this for your safety and for the safety of the people in your care. You have the legal right and the legal responsbility to report unsafe practices. You can do this anonymously or we can do it for you - again without reference to you. We just say that "we have had reports of ..... from this area." The Ombudsman by law mustlook into this.
If you will email me privately to tell me your city and state - facility if you want me to call -we will put you in touch with the ombudsman in your area or will contact them for you.

: I was 'trained' last night to work on the SCU. This is (in case it's different for the rest of you) where our ambulatory Alzheimers residents live. I was literally tossed back there for my first night, no training, no support and a charge nurse who wouldn't answer me when I screamed for her from a bathroom where I was being punched in the back by a man twice my size. A lesser person would have walked out without telling them they were even leaving, and I am sorry to say that I actually considered doing just that.
: What do I do when I go in today and the same thing happens? What am I supposed to do when I get there and they tell me I have the same assignment tonight with no support?
