: The first thing we need to promote to others is that nothing is achieved by finger pointing or by blaming others. Bitching gets us nowhere. Some times it feels so good to just let em have it - but then - no one cares and nothing gets done! And the back lash can be deadly.
: Clearly if we are to make positive changes, we have to find ways to get folks to listen to us.
: This is what the National CNA Network is about and this is what the Leadership Program is about - how to get folks to listen to the NA perception, and how to grow NA skills that will enable NAs to take their rightful place in decision making about these issues.
: We may be conducting the Leadership Training Program in Fl in the spring and I want to connect you with other NAs and others who are trying to make this happen. In addition, one of our strong advocates William Painter, a policy analysist for the National Alzheimers Assoc is moving to FL in January - He will be helping to get FL into creating a positive voice for NAs - I will connect the two of you.
: Some times it is easier to address issues indirectly and since National Nursing Assistants Week is coming in June - this gives you an excellent opportunity to bring together NAs and Nurses in a fun way. Often we find that the planning for NA Week leads to on-going group meetings and more friendly interaction between NAs and Nurses. We will be sending more info in the mail after Jan 1 or additional info will also be available on the web site.
: One of the products of the Leadership Conf in DC was the creation of a Chat Room Committee - as soon as they are up and running, you should plan to join them on a regular basis
: Also it is not too early for you to begin planning to attend the National Leadership Conf for NAs in Washington DC, November 2000. NAs who have attended can tell you how they were able to use the skills learned in this program to enhance their own work life and to address needed changes in a positive way.

: : By the time I got the the nursing home for my meeting, the Staffing Coordinator was moved into her new office, with the ADON sign on the door. I turned around and walked out.
: : I love the facility that I work in, that's why I left agency. But,I have seen it go down hill in just a few short months, and don't know what to do. My DON has told me to give her input...She won't know anything otherwise.
: : So, I wrote her a note. I ended up getting blamed for "Everything... except Watergate"! I had 2 supervisors, and 2 CNA's upset for things I didn't even say. I felt so bad that I brought the letter to show them exactly what I had written. It's time for these High-School games to stop. If people would worry about their work habits and not gossip, this facility would be superior, again!
: : The one supervisor was so upset, that she completely ignored me Sunday night. I tried to let her know that she had a phone call, but she closed the door in my face. She told two of my favorite co-workers that I said they were lazy, that they sleep all night, refuse to help with my difficult residents, and the need to be moved to a more Difficult assignment...All of which I NEVER SAID!
: : Now, I have to sit down and figure out why this is happening to me. The sad thing is that I like working there so much that I won't leave, whereas others would quit in an instant!
