Abandonment is something different. This is a supervisor trying to scare you. However, you do have to be careful that you are not insubordinate to your supervisor because once you are fired, you cant make the changes that need to be made here.
There are ways to deal with this so you do not get implicated. If you will email me privately at [email protected], I will help you find people in your area or state who will help. If OK with you, I will also forward this to our friends in HCFA. There are many folks who are trying to address this and similar issues and the more that they know the real world, the better they can help.
