The Millennium Gathering
Our goal is to start the new Millennium with a spirit of good will and anticipation of the good we can accomplish when we work together for positive change.
Questions
1. What does it mean - "Time to Make it Personal?
2. In what ways are you a key player in the life of another person?
3. In what ways have you improved another's life?
4. How can we create positive change in care practices? How can you do this?
5. How can we create good will among workers?
6. What have you done to join with others about this project?
7. When you are alone, do you think about ways to make things better?
8. Give some examples of some wonderful, sensitive and caring things that you personally do on a daily basis to make life better for yourself and others?
9. What do you say to yourself when you don�t get everything done or have to let things go?
10. What things have your coworkers done to make care better?
11. How often do you talk about how you can address specific problems in care?
12. How often do you talk with the DON, Administrators, Medical Director or your mayor or legislators? What do you tell them? What do you want them to know about what you do when providing care?
13. When you talk with people from the community, what do you say about being a NA?
14. How can tell children and teens about the rewarding work we do?
15. What will you do with your local newspaper, radio and TV station to discuss media coverage for National Nursing Assistants Week?
16. What are you planning for NA Week?
16. How can NAs be more involved with committees in the facility, the community and other
organizations?

Held at your place, or wherever nursing assistants gather.
It is "Time to Make it Personal." There is much to do and now is the time to make it personal. Each nursing assistant is a "Key Player" in the lives of the people in your care. And every NA has an important role to work with others to create the changes that will benefit all. Our goal is to start the new Millennium with a spirit of good will and anticipation of the good we can accomplish when we work together for positive change. The National Network of Career Nursing Assistants' Leadership Committee invites you, wherever you may be, to join with others across the country in a Millennium Gathering for Nursing Assistants on January 8, 2000 - at your place or wherever nursing assistants come together.
For your Millennium Gathering, you might gather informally in twos or threes, or more formally for a candle light service, a lunch, a coffee, or a regional meeting. You may connect on a web site, message board, chat room, or email. You might also want to take a few minutes on your own simply to think about how valuable you are to the people in your care.
HOW TO START
Review and acknowledge the many wonderful, sensitive and caring things that you personally do on a daily basis to make life better for yourself and others
Be gentle and forgiving of yourself for oversights or the things that did not get done
Acknowledge that NAs must combine thoughts and actions if we are to make a positive difference in our own work setting and in the lives of the people in our care
Acknowledge another person for her/his special efforts
Agree to consider positive resolutions to any problems or issues that may arise in your daily work
Contact other facilities in the area to conduct an area candle light service or other ceremony
Involve the local DON, Administrators, Activity or Medical Directors group
Invite your mayor or congressperson to share this time with you in positive reflection
Contact your local newspaper, radio and TV station to discuss media coverage for your event
As a Career Nursing Assistant I pledge to
Provide a high quality of care to the people in my care
