This is the type of activity that we are trying to foster in many states. We have other movers and shakers in MI and I would like to connect you with them. If you will email your mailing address to me at [email protected] I will put you in touch with them. If you have not looked at our page on the Leadership Training Program I hope you will drop in there. The lTP is especially for NAs like you who want to develop peer groups on facility, regional, and state levels. We also include skills for leadership in the clinical area.

: This is an invitation to all cna's in Northern
: Michigan. I am involved with a group of people interest-
: ed in LTC. This group is made up of, admin; activity
: directors; nurses, omsbudman, and nursing assts. I'm sure
: there are other titles but from the few I've mentioned
: you can see we are a diverse group. We meet the first
: Tuesday of every other month at the St. Mary's Family
: Center in Grayling at 1:00 p.m. We as a group share
: ideas, problems and solutions. We also organized our
: first CNA conference. It was held in June and was a
: huge success! NA's were able to attend workshops, had a
: wonderful lunch served to us by our administrators,
: followed by an awards presentation.
: This group is one of the best things I've been involved
: with in my 18 years as an aide. It is great to meet
: and share ideas. And in this group the aides have just
: as much input as an admin. In fact, regarding the
: planning of the conference we may have had more!
: If possible try to meet with other facilities in your
: area; this can create an invaluble support system. The
: more support you have, the less stress you feel. It makes
: a difference to know you are not alone. And if more voices
: are joined we can make a louder noise!!
