At our facility, we are informed of new admits'
conditions whether contagious or not. It is just
a matter of knowing what you are working with.
We are inserviced on the glove-wearing, etc.
We are told when there is MRSA, shingles and
just the normal conditions, such as stroke, CHF,
etc. When I first encountered MRSA at work, I
asked my doctor about it. I also read about it.
You can read about MRSA by typing in the word
MRSA on-line and search with AltaVista or some-
thing. Anyway, my doctor just said to wear gloves
and that we all have a bit of MRSA in our systems
and working with someone that has it should pose
no problems as long as we use Universal Pre-
cautions. Once we had a resident that we had
to wear gloves, gowns, and mask when working on
them. If you need to know more, go to the library
or ask your doctor. Debbie
