Sheila,
I commend you for remaining in postion when things are tough and I hope you will continue to stay. First and foremost, It is important that you take care of yourself and that you also distance your self from the words of those who do not understand.
It is also important that you join with other NAs to address this as an issue and that you help us package this info in a way that people in HCFA and other public policy agencies can recognize and relate to. I think it is important for you to connect you with others who are working on position statements and projects in these areas- and so we would like to send you a complementary copy of the Network News and a complementary one-year membership in the National Network of Career Nursing Assistants. For this I will need your postal mailing address - privately is ok. send to: [email protected]

You and others can also help us develop NA Postion Papers by sending your good ideas about the following topics. There are no right or wrong answers. These are just "Tips by Nursing Assistants for Nursing Assistants" and are used to help "tell the NA story" and help legislators, people from HCFA and others to understand you better.
Here are the questions. Be sure to send your address when you answer these.
1. What is it you do that makes you a specialist in the care you provide?
2. How do you provide individualized care.
3. What is your best tip for getting food into a person who is a reluctant eater?
4. How can we assure that everyone will be toileted in a timely manner when there is not enough NAs to do this?
.
Thanks. I look forward to working more with you.
