I've read so many stories, which all seem to have the same details...CNAs/Home Health Aides/Rehab.Subacute aides...we are all working too hard! Caring for very needy human beings...not enough salary, not enough benifits & most of all, not enough respect! We are VIPs, we are professional caregivers - Not Maids! I have been doing this for 12 years....not I have become politically active! I call, write, or e-mail my local, state & federal representatives...they work for us, remember that! You have every right to let the public know what is happening in your workplaces! I have been interviewed by local newspapers, radio stations (I call-into talk shows as well),& cable TV (local public access shows), I have also spoken in front of the MA health care committee, Govenor's commission, before public hearings...these are all ways "we" can let everyone know what is happening in health care today. Yes, it takes some effort, but its do able. I have also joined a union, which helps protect my right to speak! Of course, my employeer does not like what I do, but I'm careful at work, and I'm a damn good Nurse Aide...so, fight back! Surf the web, many sites for Us! check out, www.seiu.org
