Thank you AiRe
I would like to use your story in an article I am doing about things that make a faciltiy a nice place to live and work. If you would send me your postal mailing address (privately to cnajeni@aol,com), I will send you a gift for National Nursing Assistants Week for your vision and persistance.

You seem to have a lot of common sense and we need to figure how to foster this quality in todays nursing homes.

Thank you for being a bright spot today.

Genevieve Gipson, Director
National Network of CAreer Nursing Assistants
a profesional organization for NAs since 1977.

: I have been a CNA for four years and in two states. I'm currently working in Indiana. I recently went through a period where I didn't want to do this work anymore. This was a sadding thing to me, becuase I had loved my working for so long. I didn't in my heart want to quit, but low pay and poor working conditions/enviroment made the prospect of going to work horrifying. I just couldn't stand to see the way some other employee's treated eachother and the residents. I didn't know what to do. I didn't wish to work agency, I'd worked in all the nursing homes in Grant county, I'd even tried assited living, and I'd even worked in one Madison county facility twice. I decided that even though I'd tried all kinds of nursing homes that I'd try one more before I called it quits at the only profession I'd ever had.
: I started looking through the classified ads and came acrossed an add for a place that didn't have a very good reputation, but it offered some thing in the add that I needed, namely day shift, which as we all know can be hard to hire in on sometimes. This coupled with the fact that it was Christmas time and it was pretty slim pickings as far as jobs went made me apply. They hired me on the spot and I've worked there 5 months.
: Since I began working there I've been embraced as family and have enjoyed almost everday I've worked there. I have the famly atmophere of a small facility that I enjoy and the pay and good management of a larger one.
: So, that said I'd like to thank all the staff at the Alexandria Care Center and most of all the other CNA's that have helped me to love my job again and for making me a rspected and loved member of your family.
: I would also like to invite anyone who's interested in this kind of work enviroment to contact me or come apply. The affore mentioned reputation was due to poor staffing that thanks to the new management is quickly being corrected. So, even though we are almost at full staff we are still looking for caring people to join our family.
