: I have a question for those who have, or are senior CNAs in their facility.
: How do you change a co-worker's view of their job?
: I have a couple of co-workers who rarely help fellow CNAs, or take care of a resident that they are not directly assigned to. (They do not seem to believe in teamwork)
: Our facility does not have a career ladder, or accountability structure for CNAs other than direct intervention by nurses. (We do not have senior CNAs responsible for other CNAs).
: I am trying to sell the facility on the idea of appinting senior CNAs who may better be able to deal with problem CNAs than nurse are.

My facility has implemented a career ladder program in which we have CNAs, Senior CNAs, and Senior CNA Specialists. The Senior CNA position gets a raise of 25 cents per hour and the Specialist position gets an extra 50 cents per hour. Both positions set examples and mentor to new employees and if you don't adhere to the rules, you are stripped of your new title and your raise! Although this is new, it seems to be working out very well---we have an attendance problem, and that is holding some people back, because good attendance is a MUST!
