i am a certified wound/ostomy nurse working in a 500 bed long term care facility. We have 3 skilled units where the residents are quite dependent upon us for all their care. I am finding it a challenge to come up with a q 2 hour turning schedule that works. right now we use a xerox copy of a turning clock over the resident's bed. ie, back, l side, r side, etc... what are some of the techniques you use in your practice? how do you know when the resident was last turned? are you finding it impossible to turn the residents every 2 hours (for those that need it)? do you use turning clocks? flow sheets? what?
