If you will email me privately, I will put you in touch with some folks who are working toward similar goals.
No,we do not have a Chapter of the NNCNA in Houston, but we would like to, so if you also include your postal mailing addrss, I will send info.
In addition, we do have the ear of federal and state legislators and public policy officials. It is important for you to be able to speak up in ways that these and others will listen. This takes some new ways of talking about the things we need, but many NAs have been very successful in making needed changes.
I would encourage you also to get involved with the Leadership Program so you can attend classes to help you connect in postive ways with folks who can help.
In addition, if you have NAs who have 20 or more years of service, they should join the National Twenty Year Club - it does not cost anything to join and they become a part of a major statement about NAs who stay in position - you can use this for articles in the newspaper. This helps others to begin to see you as important health care workers.
We need you! We also know that changes will only come from those who are in the field. Once you leave, you have no power to affect changes.

: We as CNA'S are standing alone at our healthcare facility out of the 19, we are affiliated with. We are unionized we are trying to get support from all national group and organization that we can. We are becoming few as we are slowly being weeded out.
: Most of us have been there for tweny years to two years. We can't keep new CNA'S because of the cheap wages and high medical insurance.
: We have a election coming up next month we need speakers to continue encourage us right now. We plan to endure to the end inspite of what might happen.
