YES, Where I work, Male CNA's are abundant. Mostly on the Evening shift. WE have one or 2 that work days.

I begin my Day at 6 depending on the hall, and start initial rounds of Cleaning and grooming and dressing the REsident.
Getting them up for Breakfast. Taking Vitals when I can just before breakfast is served or after.

AFTER BREAKFAST.
I do my alloted showers. Shaves, etc. and After Breakfast, I do what I can do,
otherwise. I hold off and try to accomplish it after lunch.
I also put people back down to rest after breakfast, (some floors) and get them up again, before lunch, and back down again after lunch.

: What is the best way to become a CNA, by going to school and get a certificate first, or is there another way
For me, I thought there was only one way. to work at the Nursing home after I took my test there. BUT I am finding out. You can work in a nursing home about 4 months, uncertified as long as you plan to test etc. The Nursing home takes the chance of hiring. UNCERTIFIED'S and testing them when the Test is made available.
in my case. I AM DOING just that. **I LET MY LICENSE EXPIRE** I am considered Uncertified but have Certified Expierience. I don't know the Nursing Home like the Back of my hand,. but by working all floors, I get a good feel for it.

Yes, This is called PRN. I am PRN I work an 8 hour day.. Mon-thursday.
Which actually is almost full time. But PRN you can work as many days as needed.
