1) A strong anti-workplace bullying,violence policy.
2) A stated standard of CNA/Resident ratios- and this would be: 5:1 days; 7:1 evenings and 10:1
nights.
3) A process where CNA's have a career ladder-
CNA 1 to CNA 2 and perhaps a Lead SHift CNA.
4) Pay: Competetive to at least area fast food
stores! Add a couple bucks on top of this.
5) Benefits: Full for employees working 20 hrs.
a week +/Extra pay for those who don't use...
6) Flex shceduling: For the Mom's and Dad's...
Part time shifts with benefits.
7) Non- nursing management: having a model called
Matrix Management- have non-nursing supervisors
handle the staffing, hiring, firing policies; also
in charge of staffing/scheduling. Set up programs
for residents- not just care plans.Non-nurse
managers & nurses work together, but in charge of
their own area's.
8) Requirement that all RN/LPN staff have been a
CNA first.
9)Nursing staff who respect the role of the CNA,
proven by acceptance of CNA input, CNA observations, CNA advice.

That's all I can think of now.
Patti
