We love you and want to xerox you and distribute you nationwide. Do you have any idea how many DONs have the opposite view?
My guess is that you do not have the turnover problems encountered by some DONs. When NAs are respected as important members of the team then everyone benefits. How to get from here to there is often the question. Any ideas you may have about how to help DONs work more effectively with NAs would be appreciated.
One of the things we encountered in our studies is that delegation and supervision are perceived by nurses as punishing and disciplinary actions, while our NAs see delegation and supervion as providing them the guidance they need in order to perform the tasks of care. Clearly different perspectives - it is no wonder we have problems communicating. How can we bring this together better?
