Hello,I got my certificate last june, and for the first few months Iw as working on 11-7 shift. I loved it, got overtime when I wanted it (not mandated), and thought nothing was wrong. I was a full-time aide on one floor of my previous employer, and I started having a feeling the charge nurse had something aginst me, becuase I would change a resident, she'd follow behind and write me up for not changing them, even though I jsut threw out the wet attends, or for rolling a two-assist by my self if I was only washing thier front and waiting for my partner to come in the room. A couple months later the director of nursing told me basically "go to 3-11 or get fired". Since I needed the job, I took the shift change on the condition I was going to be full tiem on a floor becuase there was five differant floors in the building, and there was no way I could know how to care for every single patient. She agreed and I started the new shift...I worked with alot of teen agers (17-19), who would rush threw the rounds as fast as possible, put everyone in an attends, even if they were only mildly incontinent and just needed a pad (becuase they didn't have time to tiolet everyone), and I never got help with two-assist or hoyer patients. I found out that the other aides would transfer residents by themselves to get done faster, and when I bought this to the attnetion of the director of nursing (after a resident broke his ankle), I was told to stop picking on the new aides who jsut got out of the class. I was getting cronic migraines from stress, dreaded going to work, and when I asked to be moved to a differant floor the DoN asked if Iw as feleing burnt out and I said "yeah" and she chuckled and siad "good". IN june/jully of this year I was having a bad day (started with petty stuff before work, but Iw as sitll in a good mood). I got to work, they told me to go to a differant floor, I did, no one knew why I was down there, I was getting confused becuase one nurse said one thing, another said something else, the PCM (shift supervisor) had no idea what was going on.When I went to talk to her, she started yelling at me that she'd "given me every chance in the world" when she'd never said one word about me doing a bad job. After dealing with the poor care given to residents by the staff, and the unprofessonalism of being yelled at by the supervisor, I walked out. The next morning the DoN called me to remind me that I'd quit, and to tell me that I should have never became an aide int he first place if I couldn't deal with one simple floor change after being a "veteran aide".For four months I've been working minimum wage just so I could pay the bills. The fast food place I current work at has FOUR (including myself) people who used to work as aides in the same nursing home. One quit for the same reasons I did, and the other two never made it threw CNA training (one had broncitis, and even with a docs note was automatically failed for missing two days, the other was her husband and had to leave when she did, but said he was getitng upset witht eh treatment).Lately, I've been thinking of going back to being an aide, at a differant facility, part time. My certifacation is still good, but I havne't done it in four months. Has anyone went threw this...and does time away from a situation easy the stress of burnout?
