Good advise Mary - all NAs should know where to find this info and be familiar with your own States Law regarding duties of NAs. In some States, NAs are permitted to pass medications - but this is a State Law and it also defines the training and supervision that must be provided. If you are expected to perform tasks for which you are not prepared, then this also puts residents at risk and needs to be reported to the Ombudsman - this phone number must, by law, be posted in your facility. If you do not feel comfortable in contacting them, you can email us privately - let us know the name of the facility, the city and state( email to Genevieve Gipson RN MEd RNC, Director National Network of Career Nursing Assistants [email protected] - email www.cna-network.org - web site
