Children’s Opportunities/Our Responsibility
In order to identify these professionals, the Recognition Committee depends on others to document and nominate the qualifications of nominees. The awards will be based upon the description and information provided by the nominator, the letters of support, credentials and any other pertinent information. In an effort to recognize the diversity within the field of early childhood, we encourage nominations from full day child care centers, half day preschool or nursery school programs, family child care providers, school age child care, kindergarten and primary education. Nominees should serve children and families in Summit, Medina or Portage Counties. The Recognition Committee is seeking nominations for the following shining star categories:

As part of
celebrating the Month of the Young Child in April 2006, the Akron Area
Association for the Education of Young Children is seeking nominations
of early childhood professionals. A.A.A.E.Y.C. would like to celebrate the
field of early childhood education and acknowledge the professionals
whose work impacts the quality of care for young children and their
families. Those chosen as shining stars bring honor and attention not
only to themselves, but also to the early childhood profession and
